Curriculum Design - English for Speakers of Other Languages / Bilingual Education

The Board of Education recognizes its responsibility to students who come from homes where a language other than English is spoken.

Students who are considered to have limited proficiency in English will be given the opportunity to enroll in the English for Speakers of Other Languages/Bilingual Program. The program operates in several elementary, middle, and high schools.

Students who receive instruction in the English for Speakers of Other Languages/Bilingual Education Program are not to be segregated in separate classrooms for longer than three (3) periods a day.

The students' progress in achieving the goals and objectives of the English for Speakers of Other Languages/Bilingual Education Program will be measured annually.

The offices of pupil accounting/recruitment and counseling and ESOL/bilingual education will have the responsibility of identifying new students who enroll in the district.
