                                                                                            WELCOME TO ROOM 207

Hello, my name is Gwen Raya and I am the fifth grade teacher in room 207 at Cote Brilliante.  I have been  a fifth grade teacher for eight years.  Prior to coming to Saint Louis I was a fifth and sixth grade teacher for Los Angeles Unified School District.  I do have a Masters Degree in Education.

In our fifth grade class our goal is to try to always put forth our best effort, to learn as much as we can and to take that learning
to a higher level.

Please know that the students in Room 207 will have homework everyday and weekends.  They will be given a list of assignments on Monday and can turn them in at any time but every assignment is due on the following Monday.

Two things parents can help with at home is first, have your child read every day for at least 20 minutes.  After your child has finished reading have him/her explain to you what he/she has read.  Ask him/her a question like, "What did you think about that?' or "What would you have done?"  Second, have your child memorize his multiplication facts.  These facts are a critical foundation to much of the math we learn in fifth grade.

Please feel free to visit our classroom and see what we learn and how we learn!
