Parent Infant Interaction Program (PIIP)
An alternative educational program encouraging pregnant and parenting
teens to stay in school and pursue their academic careers
Program components:
- Project Redirection – school-based program for students
enrolled at Vashon High School
- Project CORE – outreach program to bring PIIP objectives
to other district high schools
- CRIB/Infant Toddler Care Center – Missouri state
licensed facility located in Vashon High School
- Male Involvement Component – meets needs and concerns
of adolescent fathers
- PIIP Role Model Component – provides mentoring and
tutoring to PIIP students
- Training of Trainers’ Institute – teaches students
how to work more effectively with peers
- PIIP Tracking System – responsible for tracking all
pregnant and parenting students enrolled in the SLPS
