SLPS & St. Louis Rams announce
Physical Education Teachers of the Year
(June 9, 2005) The St. Louis Public School district and the
St. Louis Rams will announce the Physical Education Teachers
of the Year on Saturday, June 11, 2005 at Rams Park, located
at One Rams Way in Earth City, Missouri. The reception is from
3:00-5:00 p.m. with a special awards program starting at 3:45
p.m. St. Louis Post-Dispatch sports columnist Bryan Burwell
will be the keynote speaker for the event.
The purpose of the St. Louis Rams/ St. Louis Public Schools
Physical Education Teachers of the Year Award is to highlight
the outstanding talent and commitment of physical education
teachers in the district. The St. Louis Rams created this special
award as a way of recognizing the significant role physical
education professionals play in the education of children.
Each teacher will receive a $1000 cash award and $500 to purchase
equipment for his or her classroom as well as two special plaques,
one for the teacher and one to display at the teacher's school.
Parsons Blewett Memorial Fund provided the professional development
and supplies for each of the St. Louis Public Schools/St. Louis
Rams Teachers of the Year.
Winners of this year’s awards are:
Elementary school teacher of the year is M. Leanne White,
Peabody Elementary School.
Middle school teacher of the year is Daniel Casey, Busch AAA
Middle School.
High School teacher of the year is Sorrell Harvey, Roosevelt
High School.
