Four SLPS Students Named Missouri Scholars
Will attend rigorous “summer school” for
the academically gifted
St. Louis - Four students from the St. Louis Public School
District have been selected to attend the 2007 Missouri Scholars
Academy. All four, who will be juniors this fall, attend Metro
Academic and Classical High School.
Zachary Gannam, Simon Hsu, Joseph Peraud and Yan Zhu will
join 300 other outstanding students throughout the state for
specialized training June 10-30 at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
“We are pleased that the Scholars Academy has tapped
four of our students for this honor,” said Dr. Diana
Bourisaw, Superintendent of Schools. “Our young people
will benefit from this special program, which offers experiences
that foster academic, cultural and social growth.”
The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
sponsors the Scholars Academy, now in its 23rd year. The University
of Missouri-Columbia hosts this program, which is designed
for gifted students who are about to begin their junior year.
