School Board Meeting
School Board members Veronica O’Brien, Flint Fowler
and William “Bill” Purdy were sworn in at the April
19 school board meeting at Carr Lane VPA School. Circuit Judge
John J. Riley presided during the official swearing in ceremony.
Before the ceremony, school board president Darnetta Clinkscale
congratulated all three for being elected by St. Louis voters
on April 5.
Also at the board meeting, President Clinkscale presented
awards to outgoing school board members Dr. Amy Hilgemann and
Mr. William Haas. “Dr. Hilgemann, throughout your four-year
tenure, you have shown an unrivaled passion for the cause of
public education in the City of St. Louis,” said Clinkscale.
“Your tireless energy and enthusiasm will be fondly remembered.” Mrs.
Clinkscale also presented Mr. Haas an award as well. “Bill,
you have graced the Board of Directors of the St. Louis Public
Schools with eight years of service. Throughout your tenure,
you have infused the school board with a sense of vigor and
openness
– and often a sense of humor, as well,”said Clinkscale.
A special honor was also given to deputy superintendent Dr.
Pamela Randall. Superintendent Creg E. Williams presented Dr.
Randall a proclamation honoring her 15 years of service in
the St. Louis Public School district. Dr. Randall has accepted
a job in Chicago public schools as an area instructional officer.
Congratulations to Dr. Pamela Randall. You will be missed.
