MACY’S CORPORATE LEGAL TEAM WILL HOST LOCAL STUDENTS

Local High School Students will spend the day learning about law through an interactive workshop

WHO/WHAT: Macy’s is partnering with the St. Louis Public Schools and the innovative program, Street Law, to provide 52 students from Roosevelt High School and Gateway Institute of Technology an inside look at the legal profession. Macy’s is the first company to sponsor Street Law in St. Louis.

Street Law’s Corporate Legal Diversity Pipeline Program will give students the chance to learn about law from Macy’s legal counsel through an interactive workshop. Students will participate in small group activities simulating hypothetical legal situations in the areas of employment law, contracts and litigation. They will also have the chance to interact with 20 Macy’s legal professionals in attendance through presentations and round table discussions. The day will begin with introductory remarks from the Corporation’s general counsel, Dennis Broderick.

The Corporate Legal Diversity Pipeline Program was developed by Street Law and the Association of Corporate Counsel to partner corporate legal departments with nearby diverse, high school law classes in an effort to engage the students, teach them more about civil law, and encourage them to consider careers in the legal profession.
