St. Louis Public Schools Family Festival
a Success
(St. Louis) – St. Louis Public Schools officials are calling this past
weekend family festival a success. With nearly 6,000 parents, students and community
members attending the event at Gateway Middle School, the district says this
is the largest festival in recent history. “I was excited to see many of
our students receiving items that are needed to succeed in the classroom,” said
Interim Superintendent Dr. Diana Bourisaw.
Each year the district solicits companies to donate items that are given away
at the family festival and this year more than 100 companies participated.
“Our team worked very hard this year asking
for donations, and every company that was approached
agreed to participate,” said Dr. Charlene
Jones, External Engagement Officer. “This
shows that the community and businesses are happy
to help our district,” said Jones.
Here’s a list of some of the items that
were given away at the family festival:
• 6,100 Book Bags
• 200 pairs of shoes from Brown Shoe Company
• Grocery Coupons from Schnucks Supermarkets
• School Supplies – calculators, pens, pencils, writing pads
• Free Immunizations – People’s Health Clinic

• Back Packs – Harmony Health Care
