SLPS SUPERINTENDENT SUPPORTS SCOUTING AND ENCOURAGES ALL
YOUTH TO JOIN
St. Louis ¨C Dr. Diana Bourisaw, Superintendent of St. Louis
Public Schools, is serving as the chairperson for Grand Towers
District's ¡°School Night to Join Scouting¡± membership campaign.
With her help and support, the Grand Towers District plans
to successfully recruit over 400 boys during this fall¡¯s membership
drive.
The Boy Scouts of America provides educational programs that
build character, teach participatory citizenship and develop
personal fitness. All boys in grades 1 through 12 are invited
to join either a Cub Scout Pack (ages 6-10) or a Boy Scout
Troop (ages 11 to 18). Boys and girls, who are 14 to 20 years
old and out of the 8th grade, are encouraged to join a Venturing
Crew.
Registration is easy. Visit area Community Education centers
on September 13 or 27 from 6-7:30 p.m. (Flyers, with more detailed
information, will be sent home from the schools.) Or contact

The registration fee is $10. As an incentive for registering,
all boys will receive a free t-shirt at the first Pack or Troop
meeting. For an extra $12, parents may purchase a subscription
to Boys Life Magazine. Financial assistance is available for
qualified families.
