SLPS Announces Early Release Days for August 23 and August 24
Full day of classes to resume on Monday, August 27

St. Louis – Because excessive heat continues to hover in the metropolitan area, the St. Louis Public Schools will have early release days on Thursday, August 23, and Friday, August 24. All schools will follow normal early release procedures.

The dismissal time for schools will vary, depending upon each school’s start time.

7:20 a.m. 10:50 a.m.

8:15 a.m. 11:45 a.m.

9:10 a.m. 12:40 p.m.

The district continues to monitor weather conditions daily. Future decisions in connection with heat will be made on an as-needed basis. SLPS is implementing shortened school days to address the safety of students, administrators, faculty and staff.
Transportation will be provided home for students who ride the bus.

Sixty-nine percent of SLPS buildings are equipped with air-conditioning. Additional fans have been sent to all elementary schools without central cooling. In addition, all schools have been provided with bottled water. The district will continue to take necessary measures to maintain classroom environments conducive to learning and teaching.
