St. Louis Public Schools Holds Public Auction

District Starts Process to Clear Out Warehouse

(December 5) – The St. Louis Public School District will hold a public auction on Thursday, December 9, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. at its Cook Street Warehouse, located at 3416 Cook Avenue. Thousands of items will be auctioned off at a minimal price, as the school system takes another step towards getting out of the warehouse business, and channel more funds back into the classroom.

Bargain shoppers will bid on old students’ desks, sewing machines, typewriters, vintage computers, record players, teachers’ desks, folding chairs, chalk boards, rectangular conference tables and lots more of no longer useful items. The District has engaged a professional auctioneer to place on the auction block.

Many buyers are expected to be nonprofit organizations and other school systems searching for bargains. Anyone from the St. Louis community is welcome to join.
