WYMAN STUDENTS TAKE PRIDE IN THEIR NEW UNIFORMS
( December 13, 2006)—Wyman Middle School students recently
received new school uniforms and they wear them with pride. The
sixth and seventh graders wanted to distinguish themselves from
the elementary school students by styling a more mature look.
As a result, Julius Hunter, Vice President of Community Relations
at Saint Louis University, purchased 300 polo shirts for each
student. Wyman is affiliated with the Professional Development
School Collaborative partnership, which helped paved the way
for the new uniforms. Hunter presented the shirts to students
on November 30. “I am a product of the St.
Louis Public Schools so I take advantage of the opportunity
to give back to a system that provided such a wonderful foundation
for me,” said
Hunter.
“Mr. Hunter made it extra special for our students
because he talked about the importance of students having pride
in their school and their dreams,” said
assistant principal Amber Stevenson.
