Excellence In Student Art Is Celebrated At SLPS Art Fair Ceremony

On Friday, December 3, hundreds of students attended an awards ceremony celebrating St. Louis Public School’s Fourth Annual Art Fair entries. The event was held at the St. Louis Zoo’s Living World auditorium. The ceremony paid tribute to students whose artwork depicted excellence in creativity and thought. Yvonne Days, SLPS art supervisor, says the program serves as a catalyst to inspire young students to tap into their talents and to share their gifts with members of the community.

“The activity shows the diversity and creativity talents of our students,” she said.
Students from Beaumont High School’s JROTC Color Guard unit opened the ceremony.
Dr. Pamela Randall Hughes, Deputy Superintendent Acting as Interim Superintendent spoke about the importance of motivating students to reach their fullest potential. “ This is a perfect opportunity for molding students talents.”

John Capps, this year’s art fair chairman and president of the Plaza Motors Automotive, talked about the importance of students having mentors. “ None of you could not have reached your fullest potential if it were not for your teachers,” he said.
