Breakfast
with the Superintendent and School Board President
School
Board President Darnetta Clinkscale and Deputy Superintendent
Acting as Interim Superintendent Dr. Pamela Randall Hughes
visited Adams Elementary School on Friday, December 10, 2004.
Their visit was part of an ongoing initiative that affords
administrators and Board members the opportunity to spend
more time visiting schools and classrooms. The visit started
with breakfast at 7:30 a.m. with more than 150 students. “I
think breakfast is important, and what better way to start
your day off than with a group of bright eyed and eager students,” said
School Board President Darnetta Clinkscale. Both Mrs. Clinkscale
and Dr. Hughes enjoyed talking with students about what they
are learning in the classroom and how they are doing in school.
After breakfast,
both Mrs. Clinkscale and Dr. Hughes visited a first grade
classroom that is currently engaged in the new Open Court
Reading curriculum. Teacher Mrs. Evelyn Thames was eager
to show off what her students have learned since Open Court
was implemented in her classroom on November 3, 2004. The
students impressively showed Mrs. Clinkscale and Dr. Hughes
reading, writing, and comprehension skills. “What a
wonderful classroom,”
said School Board President Darnetta Clinkscale.
“I am so impressed with all of you. I’m certain
that you are our future stars, and I want for you to keep up
the good work.”
The next
scheduled “Breakfast with the Superintendent and School
Board President” will be at Soldan High School after
the winter break.
