Chief
Operating Officer Selected for 2005 Broad Academy
(February
7, 2005) – Lieutenant General Gary H. Hughey Chief
Operating Officer for the St. Louis Public Schools District
has been selected for the 2005 Broad Superintendents Academy.
The Broad Superintendents Academy is a 10-month executive management
program designed to prepare CEOs and senior executives from
business, non-profit, military, government and education backgrounds
to serve as superintendents and senior executives in urban
public school systems. Participants keep their current jobs
while attending The Academy. All tuition and travel costs are
covered by the Academy.
“I am proud to be selected into the Broad Academy, and believe it will
enhance my ability to address the challenges that impede academic progress
in our Nations urban school districts,”
said General Hughey.
General
Hughey was appointed COO, by the St. Louis Board of Education
on December 23, 2004. He is responsible for the District’s
Information Technology, Food Service, Building & Grounds,
Purchasing, School Operations, Archives, Student Records
Warehouse, Printing/Reprographics and Transportation functions.
The St.
Louis Public Schools District has several top administrators
that have graduated recently from The Broad Superintendents
Academy. Those administrators are Interim Superintendent
Dr. Pamela Randall Hughes, and Chief Academic Officer, Dr.
Lynn Spampinato.
