It’s
that time again for students to showcase their many talents
through the Academic Olympics. High school academic teams
gathered for the
annual constructed response session, which was held at Vashon
High School on February 10. The session is the prelude before
the main event of Academics Olympics set for February 24
at 9 a.m. During the constructed response session, team members
were given a list of questions in which they are required
to give written responses to those questions. The areas of
concentration are arts, sciences, mathematics and social
studies. Academic Olympics is the district’s
hallmark for boosting standardized test scores and improving
academic performance in the classroom.
“We want our
students to be excited about this academic event
as they would about a championship basketball game,”
said Dr. Charlene Jones, associate superintendent
for public relations and founder of the event.
