Four Schools Relocate for Air Conditioning Project
Three Elementary – One Middle School Move Temporarily
During Holiday Break
(January 4, 2006) Students from three elementary schools and
one middle school in the St. Louis Public School District were
moved temporarily to new locations during the holiday break
to accommodate an anticipated six-month long project to install
air conditioning systems in the four buildings.
The project is expected to be completed in time for the start
of the 2006-2007 school year. The affected schools – Northwest
Middle School, Ames Elementary VPA, Herzog Elementary, and
Farragut Elementary – were moved to school buildings
designated as holding schools for the District.
Superintendent Dr. Creg E. Williams said, “This important
capital improvement project is part of the District’s
larger effort to upgrade and modernize the condition of our
schools and create a better learning environment for our children.”
He also noted that transitions were smooth, and that the students,
teachers and staffs have settled into their new locations with
no disruption to school activities.
