Summer School Ends One Day Early Due
to Power Outages
(July 20, 2006) – St. Louis Public Schools Interim Superintendent
Dr. Diana Bourisaw announced the extended summer school session
for eighth-graders will officially end today. Students and
staff are not expected to attend school tomorrow, Friday, July
21.
“Due to power outages at many of our schools and the
uncertainty regarding when electrical service will be restored,
we feel that it is best to cancel classes,” said Dr.
Bourisaw.
Classes for all grades other than eighth ended last Friday.
This week was an orientation for eighth-graders at the high
school where they will attend next school year.
“We are delighted that over 13,000 students enrolled
in summer school,” said Bourisaw.
“We look forward to the return of all St. Louis Public
School students on Aug. 28 for the first day of school,” she
said.
