choosing a career
St. Louis -- Monsanto, BJC Health Care, Ameren UE, and and
the St. Louis Cardinals are just a few of the 130 companies
that will participate in this years 24th Annual Career Awareness
Fair at America’s Center, Halls 1 and
2.
Approximately 9,000 St. Louis city and county 8th graders
will attend the fair which runs tomorrow, March 6, through
Wednesday. Exhibits will be open both days from 8:00 a.m. through
2:00 p.m. The theme of this year’s fair is “Investing
in a World Class Workforce.”
“This is a great opportunity for our 8th graders to
learn about the many career paths they can consider as they
begin looking forward to high school,” said Superintendent
Diana Bourisaw. “It further helps to emphasize the importance
of education beyond high school, including college and technical
programs,” she added.
Since 1982, over 170,000 students have participated in the
annual 2-day event. The fair has been featured in the Wall
Street Journal, the St. Louis Post Dispatch, the St. Louis
Business Journal, and has received national recognition through
the Planning for Life Award (sponsored by the U.S. Army and
USA Today.)
