Office Consolidation Moves Begin
When you walk the halls of 801 North 11th Street you will see several new faces. The district is in the process of consolidating administrative and support functions to one location. The Transportation Division and the Recruitment & Counseling Division recently moved to 801 North 11th Street from 5017 Washington on Saturday, March 5.

These divisions are now located on the first floor between the main entrance and the Board Room. The space was formerly occupied by technology staff, the custodians and building engineers. These employees were relocated to the third floor.

Two other divisions, Special Education and Aramark staff, will be relocated at 801 North 11th Street. The buildings where they are currently located, 5017 Washington and the former Food Services Building at 5020 Lexington Avenue, have been sold. These deals are expected to close by mid-year.

Planning supervisor Martin Braeske is acting as coordinator and liaison with Oculus, Inc, the architectural/office space planning firm hired by the Board last August. Oculus is currently working on a revised plan to accommodate all divisions. This will involve paring down the number of expensive private offices and making more creative use of the existing infrastructure.
