Assistance League of St. Louis to Clothe 30,000th Child
Program continues long tradition of helping needy children

St. Louis – Assistance League of St. Louis, a nonprofit service organization, will clothe its 30,000th child this year through its Operation School Bell program, which provides new school clothes to local children in need.

The celebration will take place at Ford Accelerated Elementary School, 1383 Clara Avenue, St. Louis, on November 7 at 1 p.m. The child of honor will be Alexander Taylor IV, a fourth-grader, who will be the 30,000th child to receive clothing through the Operation School Bell program. His father, Alexander Taylor III, is a volunteer at the school.

Established in 1990, Operation School Bell provides new school clothing, including regulation uniforms, to area children. In 2007, the program dressed approximately 2,300 elementary school students in 18 public schools from four school districts in St. Louis City and St. Louis County.
