PARENTS, COMMUNITY ARE WELCOME TO LEARN MORE ABOUT SLPS
NEW CURRICULUM PROGRAM

(November 3, 2004)—Parents and members of the community who are interesting in learning
more about the St. Louis Public Schools' new curriculum have the opportunity to attend scheduled open houses.

The Open Court reading program was selected by the districts to help students become more successful.

The curriculum is a research-based program that develops phonemic awareness with strong emphasis on reading and comprehension improvement. Some of the curriculum’s benchmark successes include improving speech development, grammar usage and mechanics.

The following open houses are scheduled:
Saturday, Nov.6- Peabody Elementary School, 1224 S.14th St. Noon- 3p.m.
(Presentation from 12-1 p.m.)
Monday, Nov.8- Jefferson Elementary School, 1301 Hogan St.6-7 p.m.
Monday, Nov.8- Lexington Elementary School, 5030 Lexington Ave. 6-7 p.m.
Wednesday, Nov.10- Gateway Elementary School, #4 Gateway Drive, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Nov.10- Froebel Elementary School, 3709 Nebraska, 6:00-7:30 p.m.
