BACKGROUND: Healthy Youth Partnership (HYP) is a collaborative
of more than 70 community organizations from diverse sectors
that have combined their efforts to combat youth obesity and
advance the health of children and youth in the St. Louis,
bi-state region. Together, they are implementing a set of pilot
programs, sharing best practices to improve current programming
and building a network of resources and promotional campaign
to build a regional commitment to health outcomes for the region’s
children.
The Greater Saint Louis Community Foundation, Rams Foundation
and the Sports Philanthropy Project provided more than $150,000
initial funding to catalyze the effort and create short and
long-term strategies to reduce youth obesity in the St. Louis
Metropolitan area. Rams Running Back Steven Jackson will serve
as Spokesperson for the effort. The partnership also includes
Governor Blunt’s Healthy Missourians Initiative.
