NEARLY TWO HUNDRED STUDENTS VISIT ADMINISTRATIVE
OFFICES FOR FALL FESTIVAL
St.
Louis – Nearly 200 children from Henry Elementary School
visited the central office of the St. Louis Public Schools
today. The students -- wearing costumes including Batman,
Superman, a unicorn, and several pirates -- were treated to
candy and other goodies as part of the district headquarters’ fall
festival.
“This is the first time that we invited children to
our district office to receive special treats on Halloween,” said
Dr. Diana Bourisaw, Superintendent of Schools. “Our employees
really enjoyed looking at all of the students in their costumes,
and the kids had a great time.”
After
the brief tour of the building, Dr. Bourisaw spoke to the students
about safety while they trick-or-treat tonight. Safety
tips that all children should follow include:
- Trick-or-treating with a partner and ensure you are accompanied
by an adult;
- Planning your route and staying on main, well-lighted streets;
- Stopping only at familiar houses in your neighborhood;
- Having all candy and treats inspected by an adult before
eating;
- Never getting into the car of a stranger; and,
- Carrying a flashlight and making sure your costume will
be visible at night.
As one final treat, Dr. Bourisaw presented Myrtle Reed, the
principal of Henry Elementary, a $50 gift card to be used for
purchasing school supplies. |
