Stephanie Knepper Named 2007 Missouri School Social Worker of the Year
St. Louis – Stephanie Knepper, recent retiree of St. Louis Public Schools, has been named the 2007 Missouri School Social Worker of the Year. The honor is given to a school social worker who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in the field and who upholds the highest standards of excellence. She will be recognized at the Midwest School Social Work Conference in Cleveland, Ohio, on Thursday, October 4, 2007.
Ms. Knepper was a school social worker with the St. Louis Public Schools for 35 years. (She retired in June 2007.) She coordinated the Peer Mediation Program, Adopt-A-Student, Girls Aggression Group, Conflict Mediation and Anger Management groups for all freshmen students. She spearheaded the Yellow Ribbon Suicide Prevention Program and served as a Social Work Team Leader, whose responsibilities included assisting with training and mentoring new staff members. Currently, Ms. Knepper is a practicum instructor for the University of Missouri-St. Louis and a member of the Older Adolescents Homeless Task Force.
