SUPERINTENDENT
CRUES NAMES NEW ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT
October
15, 2004—Superintendent Floyd Crues has named William
Parker as Assistant Superintendent over the elementary south
side cluster schools. Parker began teaching in the SLPS in
1976. He is known for having exceptional communication skills
with parents, community members and students. Parker fills
the position after the sudden death of Patricia Beckwith.
Parker’s job functions include monitoring instructional
programs, working with parents and community in building
stronger community engagement and supporting principals in
raising student outcomes. “My belief in the ability
of children to achieve has enabled me to lead by example
to bring the children and staff to work toward positive outcomes,” said
Parker.
Parker served at Enright and Stowe Middle Schools and Garfield,
Banneker and Shaw Visual and Performing Arts Elementary School.
He was promoted to principal at Marshall MEGA Magnet School
in 1999.
His undergraduate
degree is in education from Harris Teacher’s College.
He holds a Master
of Arts in Teaching from Webster University and a Master of
Education Administration, from the University of Missouri-St.
Louis.
