SUPERINTENDENT CRUES NAMES NEW ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT

October 15, 2004—Superintendent Floyd Crues has named William Parker as Assistant Superintendent over the elementary south side cluster schools. Parker began teaching in the SLPS in 1976. Parker’s job functions include monitoring instructional programs, working with parents and community in building stronger community engagement and supporting principals in raising student outcomes. “My belief in the ability of children to achieve has enabled me to lead by example to bring the children and staff to work toward positive outcomes,” said Parker.
Parker served at Enright and Stowe Middle Schools and Garfield, Banneker and Shaw Visual and Performing Arts Elementary School. He was promoted to principal at Marshall MEGA Magnet School in 1999.

His undergraduate degree is in education from Harris Teacher’s College. He holds a Master
