St.
Louis Public Schools Status of Accreditation
The St.
Louis Public Schools District recently received its annual
Performance Review from the Missouri Department of Elementary
and Secondary Education. In March 2004, the District received
a rating of Provisional Accreditation based on five-years
of data. Because the District had accumulated 64 Performance
Standard points in 2003, it was given a five-year accreditation
rating of Provisional Accreditation. In October 2004, the
Department of Elementary and Secondary Education issued its
Annual Performance Review, which covered the 2003-04 school
year during which the District had earned 41 points. These
points indicate the District’s status in meeting the
performance indicators plan but do not impact the current
MSIP accreditation status.
ORGANIZATIONAL
PLAN: We have shifted the MSIP functions over to the district’s
instructional side of our operations. Thus, instead of our
MSIP function residing in a free standing central office
department, it will be integrated into the academic organizational
structure jointly headed by our Deputy Superintendent and
Chief Academic Officer. The Superintendent will appoint small
academic teams (2 to 4 persons) for each of the 12 Performance
standards and convene monthly meetings to assess the progress
of each of the 12 standards. Most importantly, our Board
of Education goals will be aligned with MSIP standards and
will be clearly reflected in our Strategic Plan. As previously
stated, our accreditation rating for the next five years
is that of “Provisional Accreditation.”
