ENROLLMENT CONTINUES TO CLIMB DURING
SECOND WEEK OF SCHOOL
Enrollment increases by nearly 8,000 students
St. Louis – Enrollment in the St. Louis Public Schools
continued to climb during the second week of the 2006-2007
school year. Today, the district’s enrollment reached
31,539, or 92.4% of the projected enrollment.
“We’ve been working hard to contact students
and their families to encourage all children to return to school,” said
Dr. Diana Bourisaw, Interim Superintendent. “I believe
we are seeing the results of our outreach with nearly 8,000
more students enrolling after the first day of school,” she
said.
This was the first week of school for 1,300 early education
students. As a result, the enrollment projections were increased
to 34,133 over last week’s projections.
