A New Frontier for St. Louis Public Schools
Press conference kicks-off the SLPS Virtual School program

St. Louis – To celebrate the launch of its new virtual learning program, the St. Louis Public Schools will hold a press conference on Wednesday, September 5, at 1:30 p.m. The event will take place at the Downtown Academy (formerly Patrick Henry School) at 1220 North 10th Street.

The Virtual School provides comprehensive online courses to students in grades K-3 and 9-12. The district is collaborating with K12 Inc. and Kaplan Virtual Education. Sharon Hayes, a representative from K12 Inc., will be on hand to demonstrate the Web-based programs.

Online courses began September 4. The full-time high school slots have already been filled by students from the city, charter schools and suburban districts. Applications for part-time high school openings and elementary slots are coming in daily from parents and guidance counselors. A waiting list has been created.

For more information, contact Jo Ann Reese, eMINTS and Virtual Schools Director, at 314.345.2551 or jreese@slps.org.
