Williams 9th Graders Celebrate Black History
Month
Students at Williams 9th Grade Center, located at 3955 St.
Ferdinand Avenue, will share their talents at the school’s
Black History program at 1 p.m. today. Special guest speaker
will be Dr. Julius C. Dix, former area superintendent for the
St. Louis Public Schools. Students will sing, recite poetry
and perform drama presentations on African American heroes
such as George Washington Carver, Maya Angelou and Tony Dungy.
“Crossin Over” Scheduled for Next Black Rep’s
Performance
The St. Louis Black Repertory Company’s next musical
performance “Crossin Over” will be featured in
three student matinees at the Grandel Theatre. The performances
are Tuesday, February 27, Wednesday, February 28, and Wednesday,
March 7. All performances begin at 10 a.m. For more information

Soldan High School to Host National Forensic League Tournament
Soldan International Studies High School is hosting the National
Forensic League Tournament from 8 a.m.until 3:30 p.m., Saturday,
February 10, at the school, 918 Union Blvd. School districts
from the St. Louis metropolitan and rural areas will compete
in three rounds of competition. Some of the participating
districts are Pattonville, Clayton, Rockwood and St. Charles.
The top three students will be awarded with trophies at a
3:30 p.m. ceremony on the same day. For more information,

Julius Hunter Appreciates Being An African American Hero
Cole elementary student Brianna Anderson will receive a special
lunch from Julius Hunter, former KMOV news anchor and current
Vice President of Community Affairs for St. Louis University.
Brianna recorded a Public Service Announcement at Clear Channel
Radio, listing Mr. Hunter as her African American Hero. Julius
was so impressed that he contacted the school and invited
Brianna to lunch at St. Louis University. The lunch will
take place on Friday, February 16, at 11:30 a.m.
