Lexington Elementary Student Wins Trip to NYC!!
Jimaniqua Baldwin, fourth grader at Lexington Elementary, has won a trip to New York City. She will perform in the America Scores National Poetry Slam at the HBO Theater on April 30. She will recite her poem "I Remember." While in New York, Jimaniqua will have the opportunity to meet such celebrities as Russell Simmons, Ludacris, and four- time American National Poetry Slam Champion, Patricia Smith.

Music News from Ames
Ames Visual and Performing Arts students Joseph Brooks and Halima Tsigem will star in The Enchantment of Dreams, a production of the Opera Theatre of St. Louis. Nine-year old Joseph and eight-year-old Halima will both be members of the chorus.

Central VPA Students Art Work Featured in Louie Magazine
Central Visual and Performing Arts High School students, Emilee Denich, Samantha Hornbeck, Samantha Lindsay, Patrick Lehnhoff and Darrell Usry will have their artwork featured in April’s issue of Louie magazine. The art work featured paintings and drawings of underprivileged children living in orphanages.

Soldan International Studies Student Wins Prestigious Bill Gates Scholarship
Soldan International Studies High School student Jeffery Hall has been selected as a Gates Millennium Scholar! Only 1,000 students out of 11,000 nationwide were selected for this honor. The Gates Millennium, founded by Microsoft founder Bill Gates, is a program that prepares students to excel in academics and community service.

More Accolades for Soldan International Studies
Soldan's speech team walked away with high honors at the Missouri State High School speech tournament. Student Mark Dorsey took first place in the humorous interpretation category and Amarylis Smith won first place in the dramatic interpretation category.

Nottingham, CAJT are State Basketball Champions
For the tenth consecutive year, the Nottingham Longhorns are state basketball champions. Members of the Special Olympics-Missouri State Basketball Championship team are Bridget Heckler, Raymond Franks, Zacharia Feeler, Andrew Williams, Edna Hutchinson, Katie Mozley, and Jodie Irons-Perry. Congratulations to their coach Catherine O’Brien for leading them to victory.

McKinley CJA Student to Compete in National Geographic Bee State Level
McKinley Classical Junior Academy student Mohamad Syed Ahmad won the district’s National Geographic Bee. Mohamad finished eleventh in the state-level competition, which was held in Columbia, MO on March 30.

McKinley Students Win 2007 Missouri Junior High/Elementary Chess Championship
McKinley Classical Junior Academy students are winners in two chess championships.
The team was crowned co-champions in the 6th grade and under division. In the individual category, student Rio Pimentel is co-champion in the 6th grade and under division.
