Nottingham Student selected as Easter Seals
Missouri Ambassador for 2006-07
Anthony Brendal, a student at Nottingham has been selected as
the “Adult Ambassador” for Easter Seals Missouri
for 2006-07. This special award was presented to Anthony at the
agency’s annual Awards Dinner on Friday, November 17. In
his role as Ambassador, Anthony will represent Easter Seals Missouri
at fundraising events held in St. Louis, Columbia and Jefferson
City, Missouri. These events include the Annual Auction and Ball,
St. Louis; Walk With Me held at Forest Park, Columbia, and Jefferson
City; the Wing Ding at Lake of the Ozarks and Jefferson City,
and Deal or No Deal in Jefferson City scheduled for January 18,
2007.
SLPS Educators honored by Alpha Zeta Chapter of Iota Phi Lambda
Sorority, Inc.
Six local SLPS educators were honored at The Apple for the
Teacher Awards program on Saturday, November 18, at the St.
Louis Airport Marriot Hotel. Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Alpha
Zeta Chapter, saluted the following educators from St. Louis
Public Schools for their outstanding achievements: Melba Davis,
principal of Carr Lane VPA; Caroline Moss-Fisher, retired language
arts supervisor; Sharon Geiler, 8th grade communication arts
teacher; Stowe Preparatory Junior High; Reubie Manning, 9th
grade language arts teacher, Stowe Preparatory Junior High;
Jaculyn Martin, teacher, Ashland Elementary School and Hollie
Russell-West, principal intern, Carnahan School of the Future.
The Apple for the Teacher Awards are given each year during
American Education Week.
Central Visual and Performing Arts Students receives Curt
Flood Award
Congratulations to Central Visual and Performing Arts senior
Marissa Sims for winning the annual Curt Flood award. The Lutheran
Family and Children’s Services of Missouri recognized
Marissa for serving the community as an exceptional role model.
For the past 4 years, Marissa has volunteered helping younger
children in the after-school and summer programs.
SLPS Employees give BIG to United Way
Congratulations to the St. Louis Public Schools for raising
over $52,000 during the United Way’s annual employee
fund drive. Principals, teachers, secretaries and other professional
staff reached deep into their hearts and wallets to surpass
last year’s goal. The United Way has helped thousands
of families by providing social, economic and educational
resources.
