St. Louis Public Schools wraps up “Coats for Kids” drive
St. Louis Public Schools wrapped up their “Coats for
Kids” campaign on Wednesday, November 29.Approximately
400 new and gently-used winter coats and new winter hats, gloves,
mittens and scarves were collected for St. Louis Public School
students in need. Local churches, colleges, universities and
Straubs grocery store participated in the drive.
Speech Competition at Soldan High School
The Soldan International Studies High School speech team will
host a Speech Tournament on Tuesday, December 5. There will
be two rounds of competition beginning at 4:00 p.m. Soldan
is located at 918 Union Blvd.
Senior Citizens Visit Stix for Holiday Cheer
On Friday, December 8 at 10 a.m., senior citizens from the
Beauvais Manor on the Park will visit students at Stix Early
Childhood Center to receive some holiday cheer. The choir
will perform and residents will visits classrooms, sing Christmas
carols and enjoy refreshments. Students will surprise the
residents by presenting them holiday gifts.
Stix ECC is located at 647 Tower Grove.
Local Parent Administrator to Receive National Honor
Dorris Walker Mcgahee, Title I Family Involvement Coordinator
for the St. Louis Public School’s Title I Office, will
receive the Woman of the Year award given by the American Biographical
Institute. She is the only woman from Missouri to receive the
prestigious honor. McGahee was recently elected National Chairperson
for Title I ESEA Title I Parents, Inc.
