Many Students Perform Above the National Average on ACT

Many St. Louis Public High School seniors are performing above the national average on the ACT test. With graduation right around the corner, many high school seniors will depend on their ACT scores to get into college.

The ACT is a curriculum-based achievement test made up of four separate exams in English, reading, mathematics and science, and an optional writing test. The exam is scored on a scale of 1 to 36, with 36 being the highest possible score.

Congratulations to the following students who received the highest ACT scores at their respective high schools this year:

Name School

Theodore Mondaine Beaumont

Phylicia Bolton Clyde C. Miller Career Academy

Emilee Denich Central VPA High School

Chris Jaros Cleveland Naval Junior ROTC @ Pruitt

Paril Mehta Gateway Institute of Technology

Rui Bao Metro Academic & Classical H.S

Justin Trueblood Roosevelt

Jeffrey Hall Soldan International Studies

Michael Lathan Sumner

Devin Hooks Vashon

We are proud of all of our students who scored at or above the national average this year. We must continue our efforts in improving ACT scores for all high school juniors and seniors so that all St. Louis Public School graduates will have the opportunity to attend the college of their choice.

Important Calendar Dates

We have a lot going on in the St. Louis Public Schools this upcoming week.

Tomorrow, March 10, we will hold a teacher recruitment fair at the Gateway Complex.

Individuals considering a teaching career within the St. Louis Public Schools are encouraged to stop by and learn more about the good things happening in our district.

There are several more forums this week to provide the community opportunities to give us feedback on our preliminary facility recommendations for the 2007/2008 school year.

Families interested in visiting any of our magnet schools are welcome to visit any of those facilities, during school hours, on Thursday the 15th.
