Soldan Hosts Pulitzer Center’s Global Gateway Summit
Soldan International Studies High School will host the Global Gateway Summit on Thursday, April 24. The summit’s focus is the AIDS crisis in the Caribbean and the people working to make a positive impact in the region. Journalist Antigone Barton of the Palm Beach Post will be the featured guest. The event will take place at 1 p.m. in the Soldan International Studies Model UN Room.

The Global Gateway Project gives students from Soldan and county school districts the opportunity to research and learn about important news events, while communicating with journalists in the field. Through the use of web-based blogs, an interactive news website, and a live question and answer session with Antigone Barton, students will be able to examine their own ideas and beliefs about the Caribbean AIDS crisis.

Take Your Child to Work Day
Thursday, April 24, is Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day. For over fifteen years, individuals, families and workplaces have joined in expanding opportunities and transforming the lives of millions of girls and boys both nationally and internationally. This year’s theme is “Making Choices for a Better World.” The day is a wonderful opportunity to expose your children to your career and your passion. The special day also shows students the value of education and helps them envision their own futures.

“I have found the paradox that if I love until it hurts, then there is no hurt, but only more love.”
