Mrs. Kimberley Preston

Hello,I am Mrs. Preston. This is my fourth year at Ashland Elementary. I am excited to be teaching third grade this year. I am a graduate from University of Missouri-St. Louis.  I am married with 3 children

I believe no 2 children are the same. We all have our own unique learning style. It is important for us to find our own styles and understand them so we can be the best pupils we can be.   I also believe in incorporating reading at home. Reading at home, especially with family members, can encourage a love of reading and promotes growth in reading.  This year our 3rd graders will continue learning with the language arts program we began in the 2019-2020 school year called CKLA. Students will be grouped with other students of like ability and smaller groups so we can teach and they can learn at a pace suitable for them.  Keep up the great work and keep our students reading at home too!

Students will also experience a new type of grading this year, Standards Based Grading. It will focus on students understanding and mastery of standards rather than just completing assignments. The report card will now reflect a number scale instead of letter grades seen in the past.

As our area continues to face the COVID 19 pandemic and it's subsequent variants I ask that all families take precauations when a student or someone in the home is ill. Properly fitted masks are required this year for all students.
