About Mr. Pulley
A love for television, radio, and history has guided Mr. Pulley's passion for teaching students about the importance of engaging in our world with a well-informed perspective. Mr. Pulley joined the Carnahan High School staff in 2006. Mr. Pulley's Television/Radio/Media convergence classes are part of the St. Louis Public Schools Department of Career and Technical Education (CTE).
Prior to teaching at Carnahan, Mr. Pulley was a teacher at Carr Lane Middle School and also hosted a local radio show (Kevy-Kev) for 10 years. Mr. Pulley currently coaches baseball at Carnahan. An avid sports fan and author of the book Blackball: the story of black baseball (1996)
, Mr. Pulley has also coached football, girls basketball, and softball at Carnahan High School.
Mr. Pulley believes all of his students have great stories to tell, and it is his hope to assist the in telling their stories through the use of multi-media (video, audio, photography, graphics, writing, lighting, media production etc.
Career Development 9th Grade (Per. 5): Course examines various careers in the area of multi-media. The course also introduces students to the media areas of video/audio production, photography, graphic design, news writing, and digital media content production.
Intro to TV/Media Convergence 10th Grade (Per. 6): Course provides students with an introduction into a variety of media production opportunities. The studens will learn to write, produce, shoot, edit and produce graphic design materials. The students are also responsible for the radio and audio podcast production material of the school website, "www.slps.org/carnahan".
Advanced TV/Audio/Media Convergence 11th Grade/12th Grade (Per. 8): The course is for students in their second year of media production. These students provide the media production for all of the school events: athletic games, all student assemblies, classroom activites, special programs, in-school newscast.
Senior Internship 12th Grade (Per. 2 - 4): This course is for senior students who participate in a 7 month student internship at SLPS-TV. The students learn the fundamentals of directing, shooting, producing, floor-directing, technical directing, editing, and talent. The senior students are responsible for producing programming content for the school TV channel. The programing includes news updates, talk shows, sports show, and promotional videos for the station.
