    Teacher Message:

    Dear Families and Students,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year. My name is Michelle Johnson and my assistant is Rosemary Norman. We are excited to be your child’s prekindergarten teachers! As a team, Ms. Norman and I will focus on safety, connection, and problem solving as we navigate through these unprecedented times, and through-out the school year to provide nuturing care for your child. We will communicate with you and work through any challenges that may arise as we learn what school days will look like and what procedures we will follow to keep us safe. Ms. Norman and I look forward to developing a relationship with your family and being a part of your child’s social emotional development.

During the first few weeks of school, we focus on helping students adjust to the daily schedule and routines, learn each other’s name, and build connections to develop trusting relationships. The classroom logo is a “Sunshine”, which symbolizes the bright beginnings of your child’s school experience. Enclosed is a Sunshine room tag for your child to wear the first few days of school to help ensure they go to the correct classroom. A communication folder comes home daily. Please check the folder every night and send it back to school each day. Use the folder as a means to communicate any messages to us as well.

A phone blast will go out to notify families about “Meet the teacher” night. Please come and visit with us and let your child become familiar with his/her new classroom and teachers. We also encourage you to bring your child’s extra change of clothes, naptime blanket, and any items you would like to donate to our classroom. This helps things run more smoothly on the first day of school.

Attached to this letter, is our classroom wish list. We are truly grateful for any contributions. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at 314-533-0874. You can also send an email to michelle.johnson5@slps.org. Let’s work together to make your child’s 2020-2021 school year a meaningful and unforgettable learning experience!

    Sincerely,

    Ms. Johnson & Ms. Norman
