Mrs. Renée M. Burton

Greetings!

This 2023/2024 school year marks the beginning of my 29th year of teaching high school math. I spent my first twenty years of teaching in the Ladue School District, one year in the Parkway School District, and have since made this Metro community my home for the past seven years. Needless to say, I have seen and experienced a lot of changes over the course of these past 28 years. Through it all, I have never once questioned my decision to enter into the teaching profession. I am convinced that I have the greatest job on earth and, here at Metro, I am able to work with some of the finest human beings on earth!

I began teaching immediately upon graduating from Washington University in 1995, where I triple majored in Mathematics, Secondary Education, and Educational Studies. While at Wash. U, I qualified for nationals in both track and basketball (ahh the days before arthritis!). I helped carry the women's basketball team all the way to the National Championship game (where we lost...).

In addition to being a teacher, I am a wife and proud mother of three awesome children. I love spending time with my family playing games, watching movies, and simply sitting around a table and breaking bread together. I also enjoy baking, cooking, reading, and working out.

Just in case you missed it in my opening paragraph, I LOVE teaching! I love helping students to see the relevancy, connectedness, and beauty of mathematical concepts. I love seeing students light up as they have their "aha moments" and I look forward to being able to capture a myriad of experiences that will lead to several more aha moments. I am blessed to be able to serve as a metaphorical tour guide once again for this 2023/2024 school year.
