Hello! My name is Mrs. Ashley Merritt and I will be your child's teacher this year. I am very excited about getting to know all of my new learners. I know we are going to have a GREAT year!
I would like to start off by telling you a little bit about me. I graduated from Harris-Stowe State University in 2010 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. This will be my 11th year teaching at Woerner. I absolutely love my job and want my students to love learning. I try to make learning fun by creating educational games and using technology every day! Also, as part of a school that is nationally recognized as a school of character, I want my students to learn what it means to have good character and how to apply it every day.
Besides spending time in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my husband Josh, my daughter Isabella, and my son Jackson.  I also enjoy being outdoors doing everything from hiking to horseback riding, and traveling. We have a dog named Scout, a cat named Hope, two horses- Ruby and Mocha, 3 ducks, and many chickens.
I am a firm believer that the parent/teacher relationship is one of the most important factors for a child's success in the classroom. With that being said, I want you to feel free to contact me anytime you have any questions or concerns. I will also be keeping in touch regularly through MS TEAMS, Class Dojo, letters home, etc.
This is going to be a great year! Thank you for all you have done and will do for your child to help make this year successful!
