State to review St. Louis district's accreditation
KMOV-TV Channel 4KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Officials in the St. Louis school district expect to learn soon whether they get to shed the “unaccredited” label. The Missouri Board of Education is scheduled Tuesday to consider upgrading the district’s accreditation status to “provisional.”St. Louis requested the review after a report showed the district went from meeting three of 14 performance standards in 2009 to seven this year. That puts the district in a provisionally accredited performance range. But Education Commissioner Chris Nicastro initially said she wanted to see another year of data before considering an accreditation upgrade.
