(KMOV) – A day after Superintendent Kelvin Adams laid out his proposals to reduce costs within the St. Louis Public School District, News 4 looked into dozens of vacant school buildings that remain throughout the city.

Currently, 36 building in St. Louis still sit empty. Of those 36, 13 are on the market.

Most of these schools closed down because there were not enough students attending them. The district says they plan to eventually put all of them on the market.

“The district’s goal is to put them on the market and try to turn them over to use that would benefit the neighborhood,” said Marti Roveda with St. Louis city schools.

All 36 city school buildings have closed over the course of the last 10 years.
