    CREATING A SPINNING LOGO IN CINEMA 4D

     

    1.              LAUNCH CINEMA 4D, CREATE A NEW PROJECT, NAME IT AND SAVE IT TO DOCUMENTS

    2.              GOTO ‘OBJECTS/SPLINE PRIMITIVE/TEXT’

    3.              GO TO THE ‘PROPERTIES’ PANE ON THE RIGHT AND REPLACE THE WORD ‘TEXT’ WITH YOUR NAME. TO ADD YOUR NAME TO THE SCENE, CLICK IN A GREY AREA OUTSIDE THE WHITE TEXT BOX.

    4.              GOTO ‘OBJECTS/NURBS/EXTRUDE NURBS’

    5.              IN THE ‘OBJECTS’ PANE, TOWARD THE UPPER RIGHT, SLOWLY DRAG THE ‘TEXT’ OBJECT TO THE ‘EXTRUDE NURBS’ OBJECT. WHEN YOU SEE THE SMALL WHITE SQUARE MAKE SURE THE BLACK ARROW IS POINTING DOWN. NOW RELEASE THE MOUSE AND YOUR NAME SHOULD BECOME ‘THICK’.

    6.              YOU HAVE JUST ATTACHED THE ‘TEXT’ OBJECT TO THE ‘EXTRUDE’ OBJECT. THIS IS CALLED ‘PARENTING’

    7.              GO TO THE ‘OBJECTS’ PANE AND CLICK ON ‘EXTRUDE NURBS’

    8.              UNDER THE SCENE ON THE LEFT GOTO ‘FILE/NEW MATERIAL’

    9.              A GREY SPHERE WILL APPEAR IN THE ‘MATERIALS’ PANE’.

    10.          GO TO THE ‘PROPERTIES’ PANE AND CHANGE THE OBJECT’S COLOR TO RED. HOW CAN YOU DO THIS?________________________________________________

    11.          NEXT, DRAG THE RED SPHERE IN THE ‘MATERIALS’ PANE ONTO THE SURFACE OF YOUR NAME IN THE SCENE. YOUR NAME WILL TURN RED

    12.          GOTO ‘FILE/SAVE’

    13.          CLICK ON ‘EXTRUDE NURBS’ IN THE OBJECTS PANE

    14.          MOVE THE TIME SLIDER UNDER THE SCENE FROM ‘0F’ TO ‘90F’

    15.          ACTIVATE KEYFRAME ANIMATION BY CLICKING THE RED ANIMATION BUTTON WITH THE WHITE KEY INSIDE. IT IS UNDER THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE SCENE.

    16.          MAKE SURE THE ROTATE TOOL IS SELECTED. IT IS THE BLUE SPHERE WITH THE 2 CURVED RED ARROWS ABOVE THE SCENE TO THE LEFT

    17.          RED. GREEN , AND BLUE RINGS WILL APPEAR ON YOUR NAME

    18.          DRAG ON THE ‘GREEN’ RING WITH A COUNTERCLOCKWISE CIRCULAR MOTION UNTIL THE ANGLE IS 359 DEGREES

    19.          CLICK THE GREEN ‘PLAY FORWARD’ BUTTON IN THE TRANSPORT CONTROLS UNDER THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE SCENE

    20.          WATCH YOUR ANIMATION AND GOTO ‘FILE/SAVE’

    21.          TURN KEYFRAME ANIMATION OFF AND MAKE SURE THE TIME SLIDER IS ON ‘0F’

    22.          GOTO ‘OBJECTS/SCENE/BACKGROUND’

    23.          IN THE ’MATERIALS’ PANE GOTO ‘FILE/NEW MATERIAL’. MAKE THIS MATERIAL GREEN AND DRAG IT FROM THE ‘MATERIALS’ PANE ALL THE WAY TO ‘BACKGROUND’ IN THE ‘OBJECTS’ PANE.  A GREEN SPHERE WILL SHOW UP NEXT TO YOUR BACKGROUND

    24.          GOTO ‘FILE/SAVE’

    25.          GOTO ‘OBJECTS/NULL OBJECT’; A NULL OBJECT APPEARS AT THE ORIGIN

    26.          GOTO ‘OBJECTS/SCENE/OMNI LIGHT’; A LIGHT APPEARS AT THE ORIGIN. MAKE SURE THE ‘TRANSLATE’ TOOL IS SELECTED. IT IS IN THE LEFT SIDE OF THE TOOLBAR ABOVE THE SCENE WITH A BLUE CUBE WITH 4 RED ARROWS POINTING OUTWARD

    27.          CLICK ON THE BLUE ARROW TIP AND DRAG THE LIGHT 4 UNITS TOWARD THE FRONT

    28.          GOTO ‘OBJECTS/SCENE/OMNI LIGHT’. ANOTHER LIGHT APPEARS. CLICK ON THE BLUE ARROW TIP AND DRAG IT 4 UNITS TOWARD THE BACK

    29.          GOTO ‘FILE/SAVE’

    30.          GO TO THE ‘OBJECTS’ PANE AND PARENT THE FIRST LIGHT TO THE ‘NULL’ OBJECT. (REMEMBER ‘PARENTING’ MEANS DRAG THE LIGHT TO ‘NULL’ OBJECT AND LET GO WHEN THE BLACK ARROW UNDER THE WHITE SQUARE POINTS DOWN)

    31.          GO TO THE ‘OBJECTS’ PANE AND PARENT THE OTHER LIGHT TO THE ‘NULL’ OBJECT.

    32.          IN THE ‘OBJECTS’ PANE CLICK ON THE FIRST LIGHT. THEN GO TO THE PROPERTIES PANE (LOWER RIGHT) AND SELECT ‘LENS’

    33.          UNDER ‘LENS EFFECT’ MAKE THE GLOW POPUP ‘CINEMA 4D’ AND MAKE THE REFLEXES POPUP ‘CINEMA 4D’

    34.          DO THE SAME FOR THE OTHER LIGHT BUT PICK DIFFERENT ‘GLOW’ AND ‘REFLEX’

    35.          GO TO THE ‘OBJECTS’ PANE AND SELECT THE ‘NULL’ OBJECT

    36.          SELECT THE ‘ROTATE’ TOOL (BLUE SPHERE WITH 2 CURVED RED ARROWS)

    37.          ACTIVATE ‘KEYFRAME ANIMATION’ (RED BUTTON WITH WHITE KEY-UNDER THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE SCENE)

    38.          MAKE SURE THE TIME SLIDER IS ON ‘90F’ AND DRAG THE GREEN RING TO ‘359 DEGREES’

    39.          GOTO ‘FILE/SAVE’

    40.          GOTO ‘RENDER/MAKE PREVIEW’; CHECK ‘FULL RENDER’; CLICK ‘OK’

    41.          WHEN YOUR MOVIE IS FINISHED IT WILL OPEN IN ‘QUICKTIME’

    42.          GOTO ‘FILE/SAVE AS’ AND SAVE IT TO ‘MOVIES’

    43.          CONGRATULATIONS…QUIT ‘CINEMA 4D’

    44.          LAUNCH WIRECAST AND IMPORT YOUR LOGO MOVIE AND PUT IT IN THE LOWER RIGHT CORNER OF YOUR PROJECT!

    1               LAUNCH CINEMA 4D

    2               GOTO ‘FILE/SAVE’ AND NAME YOUR PROJECT. THEN SAVE IT TO ‘DOCUMENTS’

    3               GOTO OBJECTS/PRIMITIVES/SPHERE

    4               UNDER THE MENU BAR YOU WILL SEE A TOOL BAR. MAKE SURE THE ‘MOVE’ TOOL IS SELECTED. IT IS A BLUE CUBE WITH 4 RED ARROWS.

    5               YOUR SPHERE WILL DISPLAY RED, GREEN AND BLUE TIPPED ARROWS

    6               DRAG THE RED TIPPED ARROW(X) BACK AND FORTH AND SEE HOW THE SPHERE MOVES ON THE ‘X’ AXIS.

    7               DRAG THE BLUE TIPPED ARROW(Z) BACK AND FORTH AND SEE HOW THE SPHERE MOVES ON THE ‘Z’ AXIS.

    8               DRAG THE GREEN TIPPED ARROW(Y) BACK AND FORTH AND SEE HOW THE SPHERE MOVES ON THE ‘Y’ AXIS.

    9               UNDER THE LEFT SIDE OF YOUR SCENE, GOTO ‘FILE/LOAD MATERIALS’

    10           NAVIGATE TO ‘APPLICATIONS/MAXON/CINEMA 4D/MATERIALS/Basics.c4d

    11           YOU SHOULD SEE A WHOLE SET OF MATERIALS SHOW UP

    12           DRAG THE ‘BASKETBALL’ MATERIAL TO YOUR SPHERE. YOUR CURSOR WILL TURN INTO A WHITE ARROW AND A SMALL WHITE SQUARE WITH A PLUS SIGN IN IT. LET GO AND THE ‘BASKETBALL’ MATERIAL WILL BE ON YOUR SPHERE.

    13           CLICK ON THE TIP OF THE RED ARROW AND DRAG YOUR SPHERE 10 UNITS TO THE LEFT ALONG THE ‘X’ AXIS.

    14           UNDER THE RIGHT SIDE OF YOUR SCREEN YOU WILL SEE A SET OF RED SPHERES. CLICK ON THE ONE WITH THE WHITE KEY IN IT. THIS IS THE ‘KEYFRAME’ TOOL.

    15           UNDER THE LEFT SIDE OF YOUR SCENE, JUST ABOVE THE MATERIALS YOUR WILL SEE THE PLAYHEAD SLIDER. IT SHOULD SAY ‘0 F’. DRAG IT TO ’90 F’.

    16           NEXT CLICK ON THE RED ARROW AND DRAG YOUR SPHERE 14 UNITS TO THE RIGHT ALONG THE ‘X’ AXIS.

    17           CLICK THE GREEN ‘PLAY FORWARD’ BUTTON IN THE TRANSPORT CONTROLS AND WATCH YOUR ANIMATION.

    18           GOTO ‘FILE/SAVE’

    19           DRAG YOUR TIME SLIDER BACK TO ‘0F’

    20           GO TO THE TOOLBAR ABOVE THE SCENE TO THE LEFT AND SELECT THE ‘ROTATE TOOL’. IT IS A BLUE SPHERE WITH 2 CURVED RED ARROWS. YOU WILL NOW SEE RED GREEN AND BLUE RINGS AROUND YOUR SPHERE.

    21           DRAG YOUR TIME SLIDER TO ’90 F’

    22           CLICK ON THE GREEN RING(Y) AXIS AND DRAG TO THE RIGHT UNTIL THE ROTATION PARAMETER SHOWS 359 DEGREES.

    23           GOTO ‘FILE/SAVE’.

    24           CLICK ‘PLAY FORWARD’ AND WATCH YOUR ANIMATION

    25           GOTO ‘RENDER/MAKE PREVIEW’. CHECK ‘FULL RENDER’ AND CLICK ‘OK’

    26           YOUR MOVIE WILL OPEN IN QUICKTIME AND PLAY. GOTO ‘FILE/SAVE AS’ AND NAME YOUR MOVIE. NAVIGATE TO ‘MOVIES’ AND SAVE IT.
