    My name is Deborah Mertens.  I have been teaching at Mullanphy since 1997. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education in 1992 from SIU-E.  I received my Master’s in School Counseling in 2005 from UMSL. I currently teach 5th grade science.

    I enjoy working with Mullanphy students to encourage their curiosity about science in the world around them.  
     

     The scientist is not a person who gives the right answers, he's/she's one who asks the right questions.
