• Academic Expectations:

    The list below is not fully comprehensive, but shows the most basic expectations for Buder kindergarteners by the end of the school year. Make sure to read our weekly newsletters to see what we are learning about and working on each week.
     
    By the end of the school year, students will be able to:
    • write their name using appropriate capital and lower case letters
    • identify and name all twenty-six capital letters
    • identify and name all twenty-six lower case letters
    • identify sounds of all twenty-six letters of the alphabet
    • identify short and long vowel sounds
    • read at least sixty sight words
    • retell simple stories from memory
    • read level C books or higher independently as tested by the DRA
    • write sentences using our class writing rules (start each sentence with a capital letter, use proper spacing, use appropriate end marks)
    • write multi-page books during writer’s workshop across many genres
    • identify basic shapes
    • identify numerals 0-30
    • rote count to one hundred
    • count at least twenty objects using one to one correspondence
