Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Renée M. Burton

This 2020/2021 school year marks the beginning of my 26th year of teaching high school math. I've seen and experienced a lot over the course of these past 25 years, but never in a million years would I have guessed that in the fall of 2020, we would open the school year under these current circumstances. Be that as it may, not only are we going to make the best of this situation, we are going to use this situation to power the best school year ever! Students will control the pacing of instruction, thus allowing each student to experience his/her own customized learning experience!

Back to me: I began teaching immediately upon graduating from Washington University in 1995 where I triple majored in Mathematics, Secondary Education, and Educational Studies.  While at Wash. U, I qualified for nationals in both track and basketball (ahh the days before arthritis!). I helped carry the women's basketball team all the way to the National Championship game (where we lost...).

In addition to being a teacher, I am a wife and proud mother of three awesome children. I love spending time with my family playing games, watching movies, and simply sitting around a table and breaking bread together. I also enjoy baking, cooking, reading, and working out.

Speaking of what I enjoy doing, I LOVE teaching. I love seeing students light up as they have their "aha moments." I am blessed to be able to work with the fine staff and student body of Metro High School.  I look forward to being able to capture a myriad of experiences that will lead to several more aha moments online.
