The Roosevelt Garden is run by Ms. Nims' Science classes. It is a great way for students to experience growing food from seed to harvest. The students are involved and make decisions every step of the way - from deciding what to plant, how much to water, and when to harvest. Last year we grew tomatoes, peppers, carrots, green beans, basil, radishes, beets, varieties of lettuce, kale, collards, mustard greens, and cucumbers. The students made fresh salsa for their peers and the staff, and we were able to send tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers home with staff members and students for the first few months of school. We've already started planning our planting calendar for this spring!
