    Dress Down Day Guidelines

    At the discretion of Administration, students will be allowed to "Dress Down" and wear clothing that isn't a part of the traditional Roosevelt school uniform. Depending on the occasion, students may need to pay $2 or more to particpate in the Dress Down. Those monies will be used to supplement various groups and programs within the school to enhance those programs.

    Students will be asked to dress in a reasonable manner and ultimately it will be at the discretion of the administration whether or not the student dress is acceptable.  The following guidelines will ensure that the clothing worn will not be a distraction to the learning of environment of the school. Students not adhering to those guideline will be subject to traditional disciplinarian procedures. Clothing and accessories that will cause disruption will not be allowed for either males or females. This includes logos, designs, or messages considered to be of an obscene or inappropriate nature. 

    In addition, specific violations include but are not limited to--

    • Male or female clothing that exposes undergarments, stomach/midriff or the back.
    • Open-toed shoes/sandals/slides
    • Headgear/hoodies/hats/wave caps/skull caps/dew rags/scarves/ or bonnets.
    • Sunglasses
    • Spaghetti straps/Halter-tops/tube tops/low cut shirts
    • Exaggerated sagging
    • Metal chains or studded accessories

    Here are the "Seven B's", which help to serve as a guideline for clothing choice

    ITEMS THAT SHOULD NOT BE SEEN OR EXPOSED AT SCHOOL

    • BACKS
    • BOXERS
    • BREASTS
    • BEDROOM WEAR
    • BELLY (OR MIDRIFF)
    • BRA (AND BRA STRAPS)
    • BOTTOMS (OR BUTTOCKS)
