On the day that the assignment is due, I check my "turn in" rate. For the personal narrative, it was 96%!
However, I MUST document that I have made every effort to ensure success for the 4%.
I send emails, make calls, and send text messages.
This process, for 5 students, takes an uninterrupted 1 hour and 45 minutes of work and effort.
That means almost 2 hours on top of the time it takes to grade papers.
It will take me approximately four hours to grade all of the work from 6th grade ELA.
Please don't turn your work in late.
If you are still 24 hours from the due date and time, you are able to request an extension in order to give yourself enough time to complete the assignment.
Please note: A parent and student signature is required on this document.
An explanation of the need for an extension, and the length of the extension is required.
Submitting this form does not guarantee an extension. If you truly have an extenuating circumstance, please be clear in regard to the limits placed on you.
After consideration, the instructor will determine a new due date in light of your extenuating circumstances. If your request is denied, you will need to submit your work with a late form, and late points will be deducted.
Once a new due date is determined, there will not be a penalty assigned (no deduction of points). If the assignment is turned in by the new due date, it is "on time".
Did you just forget about it?
Well, you're not alone; it's happened to me, too!
Please fill out the Late Work submission Form.
You will need to explain why you are turning in the work late.
It needs a parent signature, and your signature.
If the reason for you turning in an assignment late was due to an extenuating circumstance, please document the issue.
If you try to turn in work after the due date without this form, the work will be stored, but not graded. Basically, you will get a zero, since there was not an explanation that your parent knows about.
Parents and guardians, talk to your student about late work that is being submitted. Deadlines help me to keep up with grading everything on time, without extending time away from my family. I know you understand, and thank you for your help.

Hey! I'm glad that you checked this page.
But, the best place to get information about your grade is: Tyler SIS/ Parent Portal
Now, if you want to keep up with assignments, and get an idea about your current grade without internet access, please use this assignment log.
I should submit approx. two grades per week for each student, or 20 assignments per term.
On the file, I've included the assignments listed in SIS thus far for 6th ELA.
As I become even more organized, you will see updates on this assignment log.
Latest update 9.24.19 for all of Term 1.
Ideally, I will have logged all the assignments for the term in advance.
