Profe. Licklider (she/her)
¡Hola alumnos y familia! I am Profesora Licklider, the middle school Spanish teacher at McKinley Classical Leadership Academy. I teach Spanish ONE, Spanish TWO, and this year will have one class of Spanish THREE. My approach to foreign language class focuses on acquiring the language. When acquiring another language first we LISTEN, then we READ what we have heard, then we WRITE what we have heard and read, and last we SPEAK because we have heard, read, and written it. Please take a look at the resources below to learn more about language acquisition and its benefits, and feel free to email me with any questions you have.

My Relationship with Spanish
I want to tell you a little bit about my relationship with Spanish. Ever since I was a kid I loved hearing other languages. I enjoy puzzles, and learning a language is just figuring out a word puzzle.
In high school I studied Latin, the language that Spanish comes from. Then I studied History in college and minored in Spanish. I did not take a Spanish class until I was 18 years old, so it is not too late to acquire another language! I studied abroad in Costa Rica and still talk with my host family there. Later I would teach English in an elementary school in Galicia, Spain. I made many dear friends there and on my other travels.
I teach Spanish because I love sharing what I have learned about other cultures, especially their foods and plants. When you speak another language, you can learn so much more and meet so many interesting people that you could not otherwise. I want to help others build a relationship with Spanish too!
